Audi RS 5 Coupé – beauty with the heart of a beast

in Audi

The eye-catcher

From the single-frame grille and the xenon plus LED headlights, to the tail end’s bumper highlighted by two oval exhaust pipes and LED taillights, Audi is proud to present another head-turner: the RS 5 Coupé. 265/35-series tires on 19-inch alloy rims, along with the stylish new lines and accents, add a classy sophistication to its menacing road stance.

Luxuriously sporty

Obviously, this stunningly elegant outer design is nothing without an equally gorgeous interior. The power-adjustable Alcantara and leather-covered sport seats with integrated headrests are standard features. Bucket seats with folding backrests, or climate-controlled luxury comfort seats are also available options.

RS 5 badges accentuate the aluminum inserts of the door sill trims. The aluminum-look finish of the MMI navigation system buttons, pedals and footrest, as well as the black and white dials are all designed to complement the black interior. The vital instruments also include a driver information system with oil temperature gauge, lap timer and a color display.

Heart of a beast

Under the hood lies a 4.2-liter V8 just waiting to be unleashed. This natural aspiration engine displaces 4,163 cc and revving at 8,250 rpm delivers 331 kW (450 hp). Peak torque of 430 Nm (317.15lb-ft) is reached between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm and rockets from 0 – 100 km/h (0 – 62.14mph) in just 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Upon request, Audi has increased the top speed to 280 km/h (173.98 mph) as an option.

The RS 5 lets the driver decide whether to let the standard 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission shift automatically or manually using paddles on the steering wheel or the selector lever. Its high efficiency and long top gear contributes to its fuel economy. On average, it consumes 10.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, giving it an edge over competitors within the same class, made possible by a combination of Audi modular efficiency platforms and recuperation system.

All that power is delivered to the road with its “quattro permanent all-wheel drive” system, an Audi developed technological advantage that has given its predecessors a no small-amount of leverage over the competition when it comes to handling and stability on the road. The RS 5 Coupé is also using the crown-gear center differential, a new development stage of the center differential.
