It’s been nearly forty years since the first surprise debut of the 4-door AMG saloon. Today, history repeats itself. This time around, it is with an off-track-special which is based on the wonderful 420kW S63 Red Sow.

The four-door 300SEL 6.8 was referred to as the Red Sow because of its colour, which was red. In the 1971 24 heures de Spa-Francorchamps competition, it was the heaviest and swiftest beast by a good margin, and it ultimately finished in second position. To celebrate the comeback of the Red Sow, Mercedes-Benz invited top car enthusiasts and media to Bernie Ecclestone’s Le Castellet circuit in the south of France. The main attraction of the pit were the re-engine 2011 S63 AMG that was liveried up to match the 1971 racer, together with expert time travelers Hans Heyer and the driver of the original Red Sow, Clemens Schickentanz.

Even though the 2011 vehicle basically utilizes a stock body, it also shows off flared wings, a 20 inch wheel and tyre which is the widest pairing possible, a fairly modified spoiler kit, and low drag mirrors. Nice period details which are similar to the original Red Sow include rubber latches to hold the lids, sports a no bumber design, and also a reasonably conditional roll-cage that features a significant single transverse column, which worked wonders in reinforcing a particularly inflexible four-door design.

A similar 7-speed AT transmission as the Mercedes-Benz SL63 is utilized in the S63.

Theoretically, the brand new Red Sow could easily break the 320 km/h or 200mph barriers with flying colours. However, the substantial weight that is added to the heavy downforce would just possibly place a lot of strain the tires.

Design wise, the new automobile is a chauffeur’s car rather than a race car. Its gear shifting is column-mounted, and the instrumentation can only be considered modern if we were within the design freeze in 2001. Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 Sports Saloon

The AMG E63 looks magnificent! The most striking feature is the AMG 19-inch 5 twin-spoke alloy wheels.

The front end of this superstar has an integrated central air intake with two smaller apertures on each side for maximum cooling effect. There are air vents on the sides, and twin exhaust tailpipes at the back. This car is set up for business!

Last year, Mercedes-Benz launched the E63 AMG sedan, and it was met with great success. This 2010, Mercedes-Benz will launch the Estate, which is another E-Class variant. The Estate is a station wagon which will most likely come with 2.1 and 3.1-litre diesel, and a 3.5 litre petrol engines, will most likely launch in April.

In May, the E-class convertible should arrive. It will most likely come with petrol-only, 3.5-litre V6 and 5.5-litre V8 engines.

In April or May, Mercedes-Benz might launch the R-Class SUV, which is a luxury off-road vehicle with a roofline that is similar to a coupe.

Lastly, in August, the SLS AMG is scheduled to arrive. It is supposed to be the biggest status symbol for 2010. It is a coupe with gull wing doors, guesstimated to cost around $600,000.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan Avantgarde

Mercedes Benz Cars’ high-performance Mercedes AMG line has built a limited edition of its highly successful C 63 compact sports car to be exclusively released in Australia. The special edition is an enhanced version of the C 63 AMG which made its debut last year in the Bathurst motor racing circuit.

The Australian market’s enthusiastic response drove local sales of the Mercedes C 63 beyond expectations.

In response to the unprecedented demand for the C 63 AMG, its makers decided to release a very limited number of the Mercedes C 63 AMG units exclusively for Australians: the Mercedes C63 AMG Edition 63.

Powertrain
Edition 63 is powered by the award-winning 6.3-litre V8 engine with an output of 336kW and a maximum torque of 600 Nm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.  Power is transmitted by a seven-speed AMG Speedshift 7G-TRONIC gearbox.
Handling
Driving the Edition 63 is characterized by a ‘race car’ feel, owing to its three-link front suspension which was specially designed for AMG’s C-class range. Its multi-link rear suspension system ensures a comfortable ride.
