The GT3 RS 4.0: Porsche’s Current 911 Series

in Porsche

There will be a Frankfurt Motor Show this coming September.  One of the reported models to be shown is Porsches’ current 911 series, the GT3 RS 4.0.  It’s codename is 997.  Very appealing to car racers since it is a street-legal track racer.

The units are only limited to 600 cars.  The engine of this GT3 RS 4.0 came straight from the previous model, the GT3 RSR racing car. It comes with a six-speed sports manual gearbox, and titanium pistons’ connecting rods.

The newest sport car of Porsche is also the biggest and the most powerful 911 four-liter sports engine model.  Its maximum power is currently 368 kW, or 500hp at 8,250 rpm.  It translates to 92 kW of power for each liter.  The maximum torque is 460 Nm at 5,750 rpm. The racing-gear brings up to 200 km/h in 12 seconds or less, it can also sprint to 100 km/hr in just 3.9 seconds.

This model also has a lighter weight since its components like the bucket seats, front guards and bonnet is made of carbon fibre.  The carpet is weight-optimized and the rear windows are made of plastic.  This current 911 series model is painted white in order to be linked to 911 racing cars, and to emphasize its dynamic stance as well.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 will be released by the end of 2011. It will be first launched in Germany, with an amount of €178,596.
